T Cell Workshop 2024: A Dynamic Platform for Young Immunologists in Brno - Report

The T Cell Workshop was held for the first time this year in Brno, hosted by Masaryk University and organized by students from the university in collaboration with students from Prague, all members of the Czech Young Immunologists (CYI) platform. The event brought together over 90 participants, including speakers and sponsors, fostering a vibrant environment for scientific exchange and collaboration.

The first day featured a series of expert talks, with 16 speakers from both the Czech Republic and abroad presenting their work. The program covered a diverse range of topics, from fundamental research on T cell development and migration to applied and clinical immunology, addressing challenges such as autoimmune diseases and sepsis. Special attention was given to emerging trends, including the role of extracellular vesicles and their immunomodulatory effects.

The second day offered hands-on workshops, allowing participants to engage in practical sessions such as RNA-seq data analysis using R, the „under-agarose assay“ for studying cell migration, and flow cytometry demonstrations sponsored by event partners. These workshops not only deepened theoretical knowledge but also provided valuable practical experience, making the workshop an appealing platform for young scientists in immunology.

This inaugural event set a high standard and highlighted the importance of fostering collaboration and skill development among early-career researchers, ensuring a promising future for immunological research in the Czech Republic and beyond.
