Last Friday, our colleague Danča Rubanová successfully defended her doctoral thesis. Danča’s PhD research explored new strategies to improve rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treatment. She showed that drugs conjugated to HPMA nanopolymers retain their activity, accumulate in inflamed joints, and work better than free drugs in animal models. She also demonstrated that intravenously administered hyaluronan targets arthritic joints and can reduce inflammation. Her results suggest that nanopolymer carriers and systemic hyaluronan offer promising approaches to enhance RA therapy.
