Annual external seminar in Heroltice
The Department of Biophysics of the Immune System (DBIS) recently gathered for its annual retreat in Heroltice, combining scientific exchange with team-building activities in an informal setting.
The seminar provided an opportunity for department members to present ongoing research projects and discuss recent progress across different research topics.
An important part of the retreat was a team-building activity focused on personality archetypes. Prior to the seminar, participants completed an archetype assessment and later discussed how different archetypes contribute to team dynamics, communication, collaboration, and mutual understanding within the group. The activity encouraged reflection on individual strengths and the diverse ways team members support collective success.
Beyond science, the retreat focused strongly on strengthening team relationships. Participants enjoyed a friendly volleyball match, informal networking, and time spent together outside the laboratory environment. The evening continued with a relaxed gathering by the campfire, creating space for conversations beyond research.
A highlight of the social program was the pub quiz, which brought plenty of enthusiasm, teamwork, and good humor.
The Heroltice retreat once again demonstrated that scientific collaboration flourishes not only through research discussions, but also through shared experiences and strong personal connections within the team.
